I think you fail to get the whole message. This is not a collection of women that are in video games. This is a collection of women that are fucking awesome characters in video games. In summary, women belong in video games.

It’s possible that I missed that aspect of it - I’m not really much of a gamer. The only ones I recognize are Peach and Croft.

Hey, sorry people are taking your pointing out a logical fallacy the wrong way. I understand what you were trying to do, but after the conference, female gamers are feeling even more under attack than usual. Using illogical propaganda like that is a motivational tool, to help feel better about being ignored and mocked by almost everyone with any decision-making power. Picking it apart like that comes across as an attack on moral and thus the message.

I’m going to be generous of spirit for about 30 seconds and assume you weren’t being deliberately obtuse. I’m also going to ignore the fact that the existence of women (we’re roughly half the population!) does, in fact, mean that we should be represented in media. Along with many, many other underrepresented groups.

Did you notice anything at all about the examples shown? How awesome the characters were? How much the industry is better for their games? Their narratives? That perhaps, just maybe - the actual argument was more than just the words below all the gifs?

I didn’t say that the argument concerning the existence of actual women demonstrates women’s role in games was bad. I think that’s probably about as good of an argument for something’s existence in games as one can get.

If you took my comments as somehow supporting those people, I’d like to note very clearly that I think they are reprehensible and wrong. Whereas, with this imagine, it seems made with the best of intentions - I just don’t find the argument particularly strong.

A post declaring that women belong in video games is the wrong place to play devil's advocate.
