Has anyone read through Proust’s “In Search of Lost Time”?

The themes certainly seem appealing but I’m not quite sure if it’s worth the fifty or so dollars for the complete set. Any opinions?

“I was asked to comment on Rowling. I went to the Yale University bookstore and bought and read a copy of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” I suffered a great deal in the process. The writing was dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character “stretched his legs.” I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling’s mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing.”

This is a picture of me holding my favourite book. It actually makes me pretty sad though. I really feel like re-reading this but I no longer have a copy.

Maybe two or three months ago I had been dating a girl for quite some time and we had pretty strong feelings for each other. I was going away for two weeks and she made mention frequently of how much she was going to miss me, so I gave her a going away present, my copy of my favourite book. At that time it didn’t really seem like it would matter at all in the long run, since we were planning on eventually merging our book collections anyways. We ended up breaking up around a month later. I miss her and I miss my book. I suppose I’ll just order a new copy. Problem solved.
